The cytogenetic laboratory is a facility that conducts cytogenetic and molecular-cytogenetic examinations<\/a> typically indicated by a clinical geneticist. Using classical cytogenetic techniques, we perform\u00a0karyotype determination<\/a>, which can significantly reduce the risk of having a child with a chromosomal defect or clarify the cause of infertility.<\/p>\n
\n

Another examination we offer is the molecular-cytogenetic method of fluorescence in situ hybridization (FISH)<\/a>. It is primarily a supplementary examination that specifies and\/or confirms the individual's karyotype.<\/p>\n
\n

The latest molecular-cytogenetic method is the array comparative genomic hybridization (array-CGH)<\/a>This method allows the detection of DNA deletions or duplications with significantly higher resolution than a karyotype. It is the method of choice for prenatal examinations<\/a>.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t
