Our laboratory offers examinations for both adults and children. However, we also focus on those who are expecting a child or planning a family.

We can determine disease predispositions, possible genetic defects, and congenital diseases thanks to precise diagnostics.

The preconception examination is a set of genetic tests that are suitable for couples at the time of planning a pregnancy, i.e. before conceiving a child (conception). The aim of these tests is to reduce the risk of giving birth to a child with a severe genetic disease.
Screening examination in the I. trimester is performed at week 11 + 3 days to week 13 + 6 days when the size of the foetus from the crown to tailbone (CRL) is 45-84 mm.

About Genetika Plzeň

Genetika Plzeň was founded in 2002 by leading Czech geneticist František Lošan, M.D., PhD. Originally based in one out-patient department with a laboratory, he together with his son Petr has built a modern department of clinical genetics that is specialized, among others, in ultrasound detection of congenital defects. Thanks to the equipment that belongs to the best in the country, clients from abroad are also coming to Pilsen.

Our laboratories

Laboratory of reproductive genetics is a facility specialized in genetic examinations related to human reproduction issues. Using the most advanced examination techniques, we conduct detailed genetic testing of future parents (Carrier screening), which significantly reduces the risk of having a child with a genetic disorder.

The reproductive immunology laboratories examine spermaglutination antibodies against sperms, antibodies against zona pellucida, profile of antiphospholipide antibodies and intraacrosomal enzymes.

Cytogenetic examination is used to determine the karyotype of a person, i.e. to determine the chromosomal equipment of a cell. The karyotype can be determined both prenatally and after birth. Prenatally, for division of the cell we use foetal cells obtained from the amniotic fluid or placental cells or less commonly foetal blood cells obtained from the umbilical blood. We perform a postnatal cultivation of venous blood.

Our laboratory was founded in 2003. Since that time we have continued to expand both in terms of personnel and equipment as well as the spectrum of performed methods.
