The cytogenetic laboratory is a facility that conducts cytogenetic and molecular-cytogenetic examinations typically indicated by a clinical geneticist. Using classical cytogenetic techniques, we perform karyotype determination, which can significantly reduce the risk of having a child with a chromosomal defect or clarify the cause of infertility.

Another examination we offer is the molecular-cytogenetic method of fluorescence in situ hybridization (FISH). It is primarily a supplementary examination that specifies and/or confirms the individual's karyotype.

The latest molecular-cytogenetic method is the array comparative genomic hybridization (array-CGH)This method allows the detection of DNA deletions or duplications with significantly higher resolution than a karyotype. It is the method of choice for prenatal examinations.
