First contact with our IVF center

First, you will schedule an initial consultation at Next Fertility IVF Prof. Zech Pilsen, s.r.o..

Consultation at the IVF center

You will attend the initial consultation at the IVF center with your partner and discuss all treatment options with the doctor. During the first visit, blood tests, a sperm analysis of the partner, and a gynecological examination including ultrasound are usually performed. The couple is thoroughly informed about the course, costs, and risks of IVF therapy with genetic testing. Depending on the couple's individual situation, a consultation with a clinical geneticist may also be recommended by the doctor, which can be arranged and conducted either at the IVF centru  or at the outpatient clinic Genetics Pilsen

Selection of the most suitable procedure

The attending physician, along with a geneticist, will recommend the most suitable examination procedure and explain the entire process in detail. For some types of PGT (e.g., for monogenic diseases), it is necessary to collect blood samples from both partners, and possibly other designated family members, for the preparation of genetic testing of embryos (so-called "set-up").

IVF cycle

At the beginning of the therapy, a plan will be issued and explained to you, according to which you will take medication to stimulate the ovaries so that more follicles mature than in a natural cycle. Based on ultrasound checks, the date for the puncture, or egg retrieval, is set. The eggs are then fertilized in the IVF laboratory with selected sperm from the partner. The fertilized eggs are placed in an incubator where they are allowed to develop to the blastocyst stage.

Sample collection for genetic testing

During cultivation, cells needed for genetic testing are taken from the embryo or, if necessary, from the egg (standardly, we perform a trophectoderm biopsy). At the blastocyst stage, the embryos are frozen until the preimplantation testing results are available.

Sample analysis in the genetic laboratory

In the genetic laboratory, the sample is analyzed using appropriate examination methods by qualified personnel, who are also responsible for interpreting the results and issuing the final report, which is then provided to your attending physician.

Transfer of a healthy embryo into the mother's uterus

Based on the final report, your attending physician will inform you about the results of the genetic testing. They will review all the options and risks of the therapy with you again, and you will then have the opportunity to decide whether the transfer of the embryo selected based on genetic analysis will take place. Depending on the couple's individual situation, a consultation with a clinical geneticist may again be recommended by the doctor, which can be arranged and conducted either directly at Next Fertility IVF Prof. Zech Pilsen, s.r.o. or at Genetics Pilsen.
